Programme Note
This piece was composed for special project where the renowned contemporary piano specialist premiered works by young Irish composers. I was involved alongside Brian Bolger, Linda Buckley and Judith Ring.
The piece begins slowly with the strings inside of the piano plucked and dampened to create harmonics.
Then it turns into a rhythmic process piece with additive time signatures and polymetric cycles.
At times there are in effect 4 different polymetres going on, this proved extremely difficult for even Rolf Hind to play. As a result I changed it into a piano duet and added another movement to make a bigger work for piano duet.
